In Summer 2019, we created a new, research-based curriculum for secondary Newcomer ELs with limited or interrupted formal education, or SLIFE. The curriculum features both an introduction to U.S. Schools with a photo and video collection featuring real students and direct reading instruction woven into predictable, daily routines. Participants will experience an overview of the program, our process in creating it, participate in a lesson demonstration, and leave with valuable literacy strategies for the classroom.
