This workshop will present tools and strategies that teachers can use to empower students to use their assessments as learning opportunities. The presenter will discuss principles of effective assessment feedback and best practices for getting students to look beyond their assessment grade. We’ll also discuss ways to encourage students to use their assessments to notice their strengths and weaknesses and to make actionable plans to develop in their weaker skill areas. Practical challenges of assessment and grading and proposed solutions will also be discussed.
