The purpose of this presentation is to share with ESL teachers conversation and speaking activities that were successfully used in adult ESL classrooms. These activities were aimed at getting learners to produce authentic language output in classroom settings. Learners were engaged in conversations that prompted them to listen to each other, use cues to interject and voice their opinions, and to respond to others' opinions.
