Data literacy is an important skillset for college and career readiness of English learners in K-12 classrooms. This presentation addresses the role of data literacy in English learners’ future growth and success in this era. It also elucidates the principles of teaching practices that can help students attain data literacy. The principles include context- and community-based engagement, multimodality, and hands-on learning. The presentation highlights the need to devise data literacy practices that are motivational and approachable for English learners.
