My goal for this workshop will demonstrate that inquiry-based writing across content areas in multiple genres boosts secondary school writing performance by: a) providing the audience with activities using student-centered inquiry methods that promote student agency; b) acquainting the audience with content specific genres that teachers can collaborate on; c) elaborating on scaffolding organizers and templates for content specific genres The audience will leave with a renewed interest in promoting writing that is world relevant, content driven, and beyond the text.
I earned my MATESOL from Salisbury University in December 2018. Previously, I taught in public schools in Texas. My chief interests are content writing with a focus on high school science and approaches and methods in adult literacy.
